Local Sports
If sporting events are a possible attraction for you, you should be able to find something of interest.

Sports are a big part of the culture here as they are in most countries. The primary organized spectator sports here are soccer, cricket and basketball, but there are organizations for 18 different sports here. Of course, sporting activities you can partake in include all water sports, especially snorkeling and scuba diving. Small sailboats and sea-doos can be rented.

You can check the Sugarland Action Weekly which lists all sporting events going on each week.

One of St. Kitts' biggest modern day heroes is Kim Collins. He is the 2004 World Champion 100m sprinter and was in the final heat of the 2004 Olympics, where he finished 6th in the fastest field ever assembled to date. Kim is an avid supporter of his country and vice versa. They have named the highway between the airport and Birdrock the Kim Collins Highway. As I used to rent the house Kim recently purchased, I got to meet the man and my impression was that he is one of the most humble national sport heroes I have had the pleasure to meet. I have run into Kim a few times around the island and he is always quick to speak. He is as friendly and 'regular' a guy as you would ever want to meet. You can click here to see some pics of the country's newest and most deserving hero.
